better living's possible for everyone…

About Me

By on July 25, 2020

Hi all and welcome to my site Average Joe Wellness. Here I will give my account of my journey to health and wellness. By no means a perfect journey and am not near to being a super fit model type. Just an average Joe trying to enjoy and live a happier, healthier lifestyle.

How I got here…

I was born and grew up in the Caribbean. I lived an active outdoors lifestyle of sailing and surfing. A lot of my work was also physical outdoor work. I ate and drank what I wanted, including alcohol. And have never been to a gym or exercised for the sake of exercising. Life was good! In 2017, I had a stent put in my LAD artery as it was 96% blocked. As a result, I had to try to change my lifestyle. Some things worked, others did not. In January 2020 I had open-heart bypass surgery. Now my efforts to live healthier have re doubled. I’ve tried lots of things and learned a lot over these past few years. Here is where I will share those successes and failures and lessons learned.

What to do??

Over the last few years I’ve read countless books. Tried many programs, from dieting to exercising and self-help programs. I’ve been through the confusion, frustration and information overload. Felt the anxiety and stress from overthinking everything and experiencing the emotional roller coaster. Add to that a global pandemic and seemingly always bad news all around. What to do??

I realized that it’s not only me that’s suffering and that I have knowledge that could be helpful to others. Am I perfect and happy all the time? No! Can I run a marathon and have that buff beach body? Definitely NO! All I know is that I am in a better place now than I was 4 years ago. And that I am a work in progress. So, if my experiences can help even one person feel better about themselves, then it would be all worth it.

How can I help?

In my efforts to improve my life Physically, Mentally, Spiritually, Emotionally and Financially. I will post blogs here on what I’ve tried, what’s worked and what doesn’t work. And I am a firm believer that it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to get self-improvement results. In these times cost is a major consideration. So I will also be doing product reviews and always trying to get the best value for money. And there you have it. Look forward to hearing from you guys.

If you ever have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Mark Loe
